Among the earliest photographs for the „People of the 21st Century“ are many portraits of the photographer’s family members. Meanwhile, most of the family is represented and can be found in different folders of the series.
These two group portraits produce an astonishing symmetry: the photographer’s wife’s five female cousins are juxtaposed with the photographer’s five male cousins. Both pictures were taken at family celebrations.
The portrait of the cousins also stands for the often hidden additional information that a photo can contain – here the clothes give an idea of how unusually mild it was at the beginning of November 2014, when the left picture was taken.
